Your Baby's "Good Breast" and "Bad Breast" Aren't What You Think.

In psychoanalyst Melanie Klein's theory, the concepts of the "Good Breast" and "Bad Breast" are not about a mother's breast, nor are they a judgment of motherhood.
Instead, they describe how an infant experiences the world in the earliest stages of life.
When a baby is hungry and the breast appears to satisfy that need, it becomes the "Good Breast."
When their needs aren't met immediately, they may experience frustration, anger, or distress. In that moment, this becomes the "Bad Breast."
As babies grow, they gradually begin to understand something remarkable:
The "Good Breast" and the "Bad Breast" belong to the same mother.
Sometimes she responds immediately.Sometimes she needs a little more time.
But she is still there.
It is through this consistent and loving presence that a baby's sense of security begins to grow.
🤍 So if you've ever questioned yourself because breastfeeding is difficult, pumping isn't going as planned, or motherhood feels overwhelming, remember this:
Your baby doesn't need a perfect mother. They need a mother who is present, loving, and continues to show up for them.
