"It makes me feel so excited to watch my body keeps changing every day! " - Client Stephanie, 10 sessions into her Postnatal Treatment.

The story wasn't start in this way!

"I thought my body would naturally shrink after birth, but I feel like my body is not responding after 10 months of pregnancy. I feel more tired and heavier every day. How can I get rid of the fat and tiredness?" - Client Stephanie

This is one of the most common things we hear, and it usually starts with the wrong question. Clients come to us wanting to lose weight after gave birth, but what they're actually carrying isn't fa. It's stagnation, and water retention that hasn't cleared yet.

What's actually happening in the body

During pregnancy, blood volume increases by up to 50% to support a growing baby. Rising progesterone tells the body to hold onto extra water and sodium along the way. After birth, that fluid is supposed to drain out gradually over the following weeks. For many women, it does. For others, the system stalls, and the swelling, the heaviness, the sense that "my body isn't responding," can linger for weeks or even months.

This isn't a willpower problem. It's a plumbing problem.

Imagine your body has been holding extra fluid for months to keep a comfortable, cushioned environment for your baby to grow. During that time, many women naturally move less, sit more, and spend long stretches resting in the same position, especially in the final months.

With less movment, the circulation slows down, and the lymphatic system, which relies on muscle activity to keep fluid flowing, slows down together, so the fluid your body once needed doesn't just walk itself out the door. It settles. It pools in the legs, the belly, the arms. And the longer it sits there, the heavier and more tired you feel, not because you're out of shape, but because the plumbing has backed up.

Why massage and belly binding actually work

This is where lymphatic work comes in. Manual lymphatic drainage doesn't force anything out, it simply reactivates the flow that slowed down, encouraging the body to reabsorb and clear what's been sitting stagnant, it's not about fighting the body. It's about helping it finish a job it already started.

There's a second layer underneath that, and it's where our psychology background and our hands-on work meet.

Massage therapy has been shown to lower cortisol and reduce postpartum depression symptoms, with brain imaging showing increased activity in the regions that regulate stress, including the amygdala and hypothalamus. Separate research using the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale found a measurable drop in postpartum anxiety after just two short massage sessions. So when we say "it's not fat, it's stagnation," we mean it both ways. The body needs help moving fluid again. And often, the mind needs help slowing down enough to let it.

A stressed, wired nervous system holds onto tension and fluid just as much as an inactive body does, and when we work on the body, we are also working on the mind. That's not a wellness tagline. That's the treatment.

We applied full body massage to reboost circulation and release the fluid that had been sitting trapped in her tissue, like water pipes that were stuck and are now running smooth again. And once the body starts to let go, the change doesn't stay physical. It moves inward too.
